THE RACE
Well, there wasn't one. The forecast was for very light winds and it proved accurate. We were entertained, however, before leaving by a family of Mallards napping on one of our mooring tires while mom stood guard. We went out with the light sheets rigged, put the main up, and had the light #1 on deck but still folded and waited. Graham initially simply postponed the start as we all waited to see if the wind filled in. It gave a bit of a tease by blowing about 3 knots for a while then dropped to nothing again. We waited about another half hour and then Graham finally gave up and cancelled the race. So, that leaves just one more race in the second series with a total of 5 instead of the scheduled 7 (assuming we get in a race next week). So next week's race is critical in determining the outcome for this series. With one drop race we are presently in 2nd place with 8 points, 5 points behind Blue Streak, but tied in points with Alpha Omega and only one point ahead of Veloce and Abracadabra. So its all very close.
POST RACE
Audrey missed the last two races due to dental issues so it was great having her back on board. And in celebration she brought with her a chilled bottle of Champagne (which we kept on ice during the non race) and a bucket of duck liver pate and a loaf of bread. We had a cockpit feast after getting back in. Life on Circe can be pretty good at times!! Because we were back early we had time for our feast and everyone was able to be on the 8:00 boat, an objective of Susan and Steve as Steve was providing storage boxes for Susan's upcoming move to her new condo.
