Peter Broecker took some shots of Circe going out the Eastern Gap during the Women's Skipper's race today. We had a great sail and the entire Circe crew today, Kathleen on the bow, Susan on the main, Nansi on jib sheets, and Pam Skippering, did a fabulous job. Ron was at best inconsistent on grinding, simply forgetting at times that was his job.
It was a perfect day. It was blowing about 12 knots out of the east. A dead run to the Dufferin buoy and a buck back. we had a great battle with Veloce the whole race. After sailing 2 hours the full length of the Island and back we were right on her transom around the last mark in the Bay before the finish. Then they had a major brain fart and missed the finish line altogether while we didn't.
But its hard to sail to your rating on a dead run below hull speed. Circe finished 6th overall being beaten by a Star, the J22, a Shark, Blue Streak, and Bandoleer but only by 26 seconds. But we finished 2nd in our division behind Bandoleer.
A great day for a sail.
