We were a bit short handed with Mike doing wedding stuff, and Susan on holiday with her sister in BC. We had Kathleen and Nansi on foredeck, Pam and Steve on winches, and me on tiller and mainsheet. Our old friend Tom Johansen of RCYC was walking past as we were preparing to leave and agreed to join us as time keeper.

The forecast was fantastic with 10 to 15 knots of wind but unfortunately the weather forgot to read the forecast. Firstly it rained steadily for an hour from 4 to 5, then there was a pretty nice 6 to 8 knot wind out of the west as we motored to the start area, then there was a major wind shift to the north west that forced the race committee to postpone to relocate the weather mark, then the wind died all together forcing a number of race abandonments, then we finally made a commitment and raised the light #1, then we could see lots of wind at the far west side of the bay while we had none at the east end of the bay, then they started the race sequence again, then they had another race abandonment (or two), then they finally cancelled the whole thing, then a very nice breeze came in from the west that came in so strong we had to down the light #1 at 15 knots to preserve it for another day, then we went in a drank beer.
