ROLL CALL (Not Role Call)

Thanks to Steve for the correct spelling of roll call. Last week was a nice surprise. It was dead calm well before we left the dock. Laid out on deck the light #1 and light sheet before heading out. We had Pam, Susan, Kathleen, Trevor and me. We were short one crew so took on a lady called Merle, an Albacore sailor friend of Trevor's. it was so light and so little likelihood of that changing that we suggested to Trevor that we could handle things without him if he wanted to sail his RS 400. Since he didn't have a crew lined up he declined the offer and sailed with us.

Sure glad he did!!

As we motored to the start area the wind gradually filled in until it was 12 to 15 knots true out of the west. Light jib was put below, heavy #1 put on deck and sheets switched to the heavy. And we had a great race. 4 times around windward leeward. Pam and Merle did foredeck, Susan the main, Kathleen tailing, and Trevor grinding. And Trevor got a work out. We used the new self tailing winches and they worked well with a little getting used to. The new Harken traveler worked like a breeze with much reduced friction so no blisters for Susan. We got a good start but missed out on the jug to Blue Streak. We finished well ahead of Veloche and well behind Abra and BS on actual time but finished 2nd to BS on corrected time. It was a perfect sailing night.

So, who's up for this Wednesday? Steve is not back until the July 3rd race. Chris, you still going to make it this week? Audrey, how's the toe? Trevor, Susan, Kathleen, Nansi, you guys on?
