First Race of the Year? Not at 42 knts

The weather forecast was uncannily accurate with winds picking up to 25 to 30 knts at 4:00 with one gust I saw at 42 knts. Based on that, and the fact it was the first race of the year, the race committee decided to cancel the race. But that didn't faze the Circe crew. Tyler decided to give his new RS400 a try and the rest of the Circe crew, Pam, Susan, Chris, Audrey, and  Kathleen, augmented by Charlotte deHeinrich, jumping ship from Veloche, and I, decided to take Circe out and test our heavy weather skills and enjoy the ride.  We put on the #3 and a reef in the main and went out prepared to battle the elements, But unfortunately the elements decided to go home. Instead of the steady 20+ knts all we got was the occasional gust up to 25 but an average likely below 15 and at one point down to 3. We shook out the reef. It did turned out to be a beautiful evening and we had a great first sail.

It was great to get everyone back on board again. Welcome back.
